Abheek Singhi, one of the co authors and Simon Targett, Editor-in-Chief of BCG discussed the book and shared some of the highlights and anecdotes from the research. They warned against treating China and India as single monoliths; there were several Chinas and several Indias and each warranted a different business strategy.  Future growth would come from fast growing lower tier cities and business needed to be built city by city. While there were more similarities between the two countries, an interesting finding was that MNCs that were successful in one country found it difficult to succeed in the other. There were several impediments such as infrastructure, political reforms, corruption and social unrest in both which could put a spanner in the works. It was clear from the research that by 2020 the combined consumer market in the two countries would be 10 trillion dollars.
