Vikram Singh Mehta, Chairman, Shell Group of Companies

Vikram Singh Mehta is Chairman of the Shell Group of Companies in India since 1994. His career began with the Indian Administrative Service, Government of India in 1978. During his career span of more than three decades, Mr. Mehta has held several Advisory and Specialist-level positions with several petroleum companies. He was Senior Economist for Phillips Petroleum in the UK and US from 1980 – 1984; Advisor (Strategic Planning) to Oil India and the Ministry of Petroleum, Government of India from 1984 – 1988 and Managing Director of Shell Markets and Chemicals, Egypt from 1991 – 93. He was appointed Chairman & Managing Director of the Shell Companies in India in 1994.

Mr. Mehta is Chairman of the Hydrocarbons Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII); Director, Colgate Palmolive, India; member of the Board of Governors of the Pandit Deendayal University of Petroleum and of the Indian Public Schools Society; also Member of the Board of Overseers of the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts.

He has a BA Honors degree in Mathematics from St. Stephens College, Delhi University; BA/MA(Politics & Economics) from Magdalen College, Oxford University and an MA in Energy Economics from the Fletcher School.
